Show & Tell Friday - Pieces of Home

The theme for today's Show & Tell Friday is "Something you got on a trip", so I decided to share with you a few items I have been collecting from my trips back home to Arizona since moving to the east coast. Here is a picture of my little collection of Navajo items.

This first item is called a horse hair vase. I really don't know that much about it except that we picked it up in Arizona while we were in the process of moving, it was the first time I had taken my husband Chad around to all the local shops in my town, and this is the item we were both immediately attracted to. I think the design is representing lightning, but I don't remember for sure. This next item is called Kiiyanu - "Wedding Basket". My mom bought it on the Navajo Reservation from a 10 year girl who had made it.

This is a small woven placemat. We bought it when we got the vase so we would have something to set it on. Someday I would like to get a full size Navajo Rug similar to this.

The last item is my sandpainting (Sorry about the crooked picture). On the back is written "Healing God - This is a Navajo ceremonial sandpainting design. It's all made of natural color sand."

I hope to add to this collection on future trips home to Arizona, the greatest state in the nation if you ask me! Thanks for checking out my collection, and for more Show & Tell Friday fun, visit Kelly!

I love all things Native American! We lived in Arizona for years...it's a great place to shop for this stuff! You did good.

My SnT is bone china cardinals. You'll need to scroll down below the tornado news to view it. Have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I love your treasures from Arizona. There is great beauty there, but I could never survive the heat!

Please feel free to "borrow" my gingham idea. I love how creative I used to be, and wish I still had the energy (and eyesight) to create what I used to. Note that the little girl dress actually has 4 sizes of gingham. Please send me a pic if you do it!

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi. Well your items from AZ sure look familiar to me! And I don't even have one piece. I particularly like the vase. Say hi next time you come by good ole AZ.
